Reflect on:
In group
projects, other members can ride on the creative talent of one or some members
in the group. How can the teacher give proper credit to the more
talented/creative students in a cooperative project?
Nowadays,
teachers tend to give his/her students a
group project instead of individual work, because students may come up with
better and organize project from brainstorming, cooperation and collaboration
than the mind of only one. And as far as the teacher was concern he/she is
observing the cooperative work of a group as his/her goal as well as the better
output. But in dealing with group project, the member of the group may compose
of low, average, and intellect member, and there are creative, talented and
not, also, there are members who are willingly give their best to cooperate and
there are some that are easy go lucky. In order for the teacher to determine
whether each member of the group is cooperating he/she must from time-to-time
monitor his/her students work that will may encourage the students to cooperate
and come up with better output for the exchange of positive reinforcement that
may be an incentives or better grades. But in group project, there is still who
stand out of being creative, artistic and skilled on the given project that the
teacher must know to give his/her credit on it. The teacher somehow didn't know
it but he/she can know it if he/she ask the member of the group to make peer
evaluation in doing their project in terms of shared ideas and cooperativeness.
By these the teacher will be guided on his/her grade for each member of the
group, to come up with fair and accurate evaluation. Through this, group
project, the cooperative learning and social constructiveness will be promoted.
